Autopsy report confirms Bhagarathi was murdered after rape



BAITADI: Bhagarathi Bhatta of Baitadi was murdered after she was raped, according to her postmortem report.

The District Hospital, Baitadi, submitted its report to the police stating that the 17-year-old girl was murdered after the rape.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Baitadi Narayan Prasad Adhikari confirmed the receipt of the postmortem report from the hospital.

Bhatta’s dead body was recovered on February 4 in the Loblekh jungle near her home. When the police recovered the dead body, there were bruises and wounds with bleeding from her vagina and strangulated neck.

Police said that the suspects are being interrogated to confirm their involvement in the crime.

Similarly, the vaginal swab of Bhatta has been sent to the National Forensic Lab, Kathmandu.

Meanwhile, the relatives of Bhatta have not received the dead body yet.

Bhatta’s uncle Shivraj Bhatta said that they would not receive the dead body until the murderer was held.

Likewise, DSP Adhikari said that the police teams have been deployed to arrest the murderer and the entire force from the federal, province, investigation bureau and district police have been deployed for the same.

Also today, the relatives of the murdered girl have submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province Trilochan Bhatta demanding stern action against the murderer after a thorough investigation into the case.
