Evidence shows Bhagirathi was murdered after rape

KATHMANDU: Evidence shows that 17-year-old Bhagirathi Bhatta was murdered after rape at Dogadakedar municipality-7 in Baitadi district.

According to a police involved in the investigation into the case confirmed that she was murdered after rape as the victim’s body has injury marks on her neck and private part. The postmortem report is being made public today, said police.

Political parties in the district have demanded that the culprit be brought to book at the earliest.

Issuing a press note, Nepali Congress District Committee, Baitadi has demanded a probe into the case without further delay.

The Prachanda-Nepal faction has also condemned incident and demanded that the culprit be brought to book following a thorough investigation.

Bhagirathi, who went to school on February 5, was found dead in Lablek jungle near her house on Thursday. Her postmortem was conducted on Saturday and its report is yet to be made public.
