Prachanda-Nepal faction submits letter to EC claiming authenticity

KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Prachanda-Nepal faction has submitted a letter to the Election Commission (EC) demanding to give them official status.

Leaders including Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal reached the Commission at Bahadur Bhawan on Tuesday morning and handed over a letter claiming the authenticity of the party.

Standing committee member Lilamani Pokharel said that they had submitted the letter demanding to give official status as they have a majority.

Pokharel said that since Chairman Dahal and Nepal had all the grounds and evidence of authenticity, the commission should conduct a serious investigation and provide the names and symbols to the faction.

Receiving the letter Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya said that a decision would be taken soon after a serious discussion on the claim.

Earlier, the EC had rejected the claims of both the factions. The EC had said that KP Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal were the NCP Chairmen and Bishnu Poudel was the General Secretary.
