Biratnagar scores six goals against Chaudandigadhi, climbs to third spot

KATHMANDU: Biratnagar Metropolitan City Morang defeated Chaudandigadhi Municipality of Udayapur 6-0 to climb to third in the National Women’s League on Saturday.

Anu Rai scored a brace and Ema Rai, Manisha Thapa Magar, Kusum Khatiwada and Parbati Ghale scored one each for Biratnagar.

Anu scored her first in the 21st and added another in the 36th minute before Ema and Manisha scored respectively in the 39th and 43rd minute to make it 4-0 before the break.

Chaudandigahi were more resilient after the break but still could not contain Kusum and Parbati from scoring in the 82nd and 83rd minutes respectively. They are still seeking their first point after losing all four matches scoring just once.

Biratnagar’s coach Paras Chaudhary was pleased with his team’s victory.

“We are happy for three points. But we need to improve if we are to achieve our target of the second position”, he said.

Chaudandigadhi’s coach Dipak Thapa said injuries have dealt them a heavy blow. “Injuries have depleted our players’ resources. That has hit us badly”, he said.

He added they were not able to maintain ball possession which led to the defeat.

The win takes Biratnagar above Nepal Police Club to third. They have seven points, a two-point lead over the departmental team.
