Prachanda-Nepal faction refrains from attending EC discussion

KATHMANDU: Leaders of the Nepal Communist Party Prachanda-Nepal faction has handed over a letter to the Election Commission (EC) saying they would not participate in the election-related discussion convened by it.

The leaders including Rajendra Pandey and Lilamani Pokhrel returned without participating in the meeting convened by the EC. They only handed over a letter to the EC conveying the message of party Chairmen Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and Madhav Kumar Nepal that they would not be able to participate in today’s discussion.

The letter said that Prachanda and Nepal were out of the capital.

The Prachanda-Nepal faction has remained busy organizing political programs and protests outside the Kathmandu Valley till January 31.

The faction’s Central Office Secretary Shree Ram Dhakal had sent a letter to the EC stating that they could not nominate a representative as well.

The EC had on Thursday asked Prachanda-Nepal faction and Prime Minister KP Oli to be present themselves or send a representative nominated by the chairperson to take part in the discussion.
