ECN holding discussions with both NCP factions today

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission, Nepal (ECN) is holding discussions with both factions of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on Friday.

According to EC Spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha, both the factions have been called for discussion at 11:30 am today.

On Thursday, the EC  wrote separate letters to KP Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” inviting five representatives from each faction, including the chairpersons.

The letter sent by the commission has not mentioned anything about the party-related dispute. However, the EC said that the issue would be discussed as it is related to the NCP dispute.

Spokesperson Shrestha said that the issue is being discussed as the time has come to publish the information to register the party for the upcoming general elections.

Earlier, both the factions of the NCP had claimed the party legitimacy in an official petition. The EC has already said that the claims of both parties would not be addressed as it has already denied recognition to the party split.
