Nepal Police draws with Waling Municipality

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police Club came from behind to play a 1-1 draw against Waling Municipality Syangja in the National Women’s League match on Tuesday.

NPC’s Rekha Poudel canceled the lead Waling had taken through their Cameroonian player Metho Eludie Ruth.

After an uneventful first half with few chances for both sides, Ruth scored in the 53rd minute with a crisp left-footed finish.

The lead lasted only for another 13 minutes when Poudel capitalized miscommunication between Waling’s goalkeeper and defender to dink over the goalkeeper.

Poudel had squandered an opportunity in the 29th minute of the first half when she beat the offside trap but failed to convert in a one-on-one situation against Waling’s goalkeeper.

Waling’s Metho’s shot in the 31st minute had gone past NPC’s goalkeeper but was cleared off the line by NPC’s Puja Rana.

NPC Coach Sanjiv Joshi said they were unlucky to score when chances arrived. “We should have won today but we could not convert the chances we created,” said Joshi.

Waling Coach Dilip Thapa said he was happy to stop the departmental side and earn a point. “We can improve further. We need to strike the right balance between the players,” said Thapa.
