Police nab eight people with drugs

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested eight persons from Kathmandu, Jhapa, Siraha and Surkhet for their involvement in drug trafficking.

According to the Metropolitan Police Office, two persons — Rita Khadka, 37, an inhabitant of Dakshinkali-7, now living Chandragiri-1, Balambu and Amrita Tamang, 29, of Thakre-9 — with 6.816 kg cannabis and Rs 662,000 from Kathmandu.

Following the information that drug trafficking was taking place in Kathmandu-13 Ravibhawan, the Metropolitan Police Office Circle, Kalimati had deployed a team to arrest them. The cannabis and the cash have been recovered from them and their room.

Similarly, Jhapa Police has arrested Sat Bahadur Dewan, 25, and Dilip Mahat, 32, of Damak Municipality-8 from Shivastakshi-11 of Jhapa with a considerable quantity of drugs meant for trafficking.

The police have recovered 58 ampoules of diazepam, 57 ampoules of buprenorphine and 58 ampoules of promethazine from them.

Likewise, one Saroj Pant has been arrested with 280 mg of brown sugar-like substance from Birendranagar-10, Bulbule Gate.

A team of police deployed from District Police Office Surkhet arrested him during the checking.

Likewise, Siraha Police have seized about 25 kg of cannabis from Dandagaun of Mirchaiya Municipality-9 in Siraha.

A joint team of District Police Office and Mirchaiya security base camp of Armed Police Force had been deployed in the area following the information that a drug deal was taking place at Ran Bahadur Shrestha’s house there.

Shrestha has been absconding after the incident whereas Dhanusha Police has nabbed three including Sanjeev Mandal 33 of Kamala-8 for their involvement in the deal.

The police have also seized Sa 6 Pa 3865 bike from them.
