EC should resolve NCP related dispute on time: Former CEC Yadav



KATHMANDU: Former Chief Election Commissioner Dr. Ayodhi Prasad Yadav has opined that the Election Commission (EC) should give priority to resolve the case related to the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP).

Speaking in an interaction program organized in the capital on Sunday, Dr. Yadav said that the EC should keep working internally though the dispute related to the dissolve of the House of Representatives (HoR) is still in the court.

“The Election Commission is a constitutional body. After the announcement of date of election, it should move ahead with its preparation,” Dr. Yadav said, adding, “At present, the EC should first create conducive environment for the election.”

He lauded the cooperation the EC enjoyed from the political parties in the past.

“The political parties have always been cooperating with the EC in the past, so there will not be problem from them,” he said adding, “However, the EC should finish the dispute related to the NCP on time as it plays significant role in making conducing environment for election.”

He suggested the EC to consider the precedents and past decisions related with the political parties while resolving the NCP dispute.
