FNCCI demands to extend three more months for loan payment

KATHMANDU: Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Maha Prasad Adhikari said that the necessary decision about the entrepreneurs who are really in trouble from COVID-19 will be taken after a discussion.

Meeting with the representatives of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), governor Adhikari said that an awareness program would be launched in all provinces in collaboration with the FNCCI regarding the refinancing facilities provided by the central bank.

He said that everyone’s attention was now on restoring the industry and business, adding that legitimate demands would be addressed.

FNCCI President Shekhar Golchha, Vice-President Dinesh Shrestha, Bank Insurance and Finance Committee Chairman Sahil Agrawal, Film and Entertainment Forum President Aakash Adhikari, and Deputy Director-General Gokarna Awasthi were present to meet the Governor.

The federation has also put forward some demands that have already been fulfilled. The federation has asked to extend the repayment period of the loan by three more months.

The federation has urged to play a special role in simplifying the process of business continuity loans.

It has also requested to postpone the provision of keeping the debtor who has been in loss for two consecutive years on the blacklist.

It has been asked to review the credit rating of loans saying that it has increased time and cost as other procedures have to be followed.
