HoR dissolution not regressive move: CM Pokharel

ARGHAKHANCHI: Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Shankar Pokharel has said the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) is not a regressive move.

Fixing the date for elections by dissolving the lower house is a progressive move, said CM Pokharel at a gathering of NCP cadres here Saturday.

“It is inappropriate to say that democracy has been ruined with HoR dissolution in the context when all constitutional organs are intact and the National Assembly, Provincial Assembly, and local government are functioning well,” he argued, adding federalism, republic would not be scrapped merely for HoR dissolution.

Leader Pokharel accused former Prime Ministers Madhav Nepal and Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ of getting afraid of elections.

Likewise, Minister for Energy, Irrigation, and Water Resources Top Bahadur Rayamajhi claimed that there is no alternative to the HoR dissolution to save democracy and federalism and achievements made so far.

Also, Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation and NCP leader Mani Thapa and National Assembly member Chandra Bahadur Khadka directed NCP cadres to join the elections bandwagon.
