Hearing on HoR dissolution: Amicus curiae suggests adding Justices to Constitutional Bench

KATHMANDU: The amicus curiae formed to suggest the Supreme Court (SC) on the case against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) has suggested adding Justices to the Constitutional Bench to move the hearing forward.

Amicus curiae’s opinion was sought during the debate on whether to hear the case against the parliament dissolution in Constitutional Bench of Extended Full Bench.

Senior advocate Badri Bahadur Karki, a member of amicus curiae, suggested that the case should be taken forward by adding Justices.

However, Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JBR reminded him that the constitution itself provides for five Justices in the Constitutional Bench.

Badri Bahadur Karki, Satish Krishna Kharel and Vijay Kant Mainali from Nepal Bar Association represented amicus curiae during the hearing of the writ petition.

Purnaman Shakya and Geeta Sitaula from the Supreme Court Bar Association are in the amicus curiae.
