Security beefed up in Dhangadhi ahead of PM Oli’s visit



DHANGADHI: Security has been tightened in Dhangadhi ahead of Prime Minister KP Oli’s visit there on Friday afternoon.

Chiefs of all three security agencies have arrived at the airport on Friday morning.

From the airport, Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to go to the Nepal Rastra Bank guest house where he will take a rest for a couple of minutes before addressing a public meeting to be held in an open forum in Dhangadhi.

A special team of the Nepal Army has also been mobilized from the airport to the open stage for the security of the Prime Minister.

Personnel of the Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force, and the Nepal Army are on high alert as per the instructions of the local administration keeping in view any possible untoward incidents.

Kailali Chief Superintendent of Police Anupam Shumsher Rana said that a large number of Nepal Police personnel in plainclothes has been deployed in the area.

Prime Minister Oli is leaving for Dhangadhi to address the fourth extended plenum of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on Friday.

Prime Minister’s Press Advisor Surya Thapa in a Facebook message said Prime Minister Oli will address a mass meeting to be organized in Dhangadhi.

A provincial committee meeting of the Oli-led faction of the NCP on Wednesday extended the provincial committee to a 551-member committee.

Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply Lekh Raj Bhatta, Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Gauri Shankar Chaudhari, Minister for Forest and Environment Prem Ale and Minister for General Administration Ganesh Singh Thagunna are in Dhangadhi for the last four days and are making preparations to present over 50,000 people in today’s mass meeting.

The meeting also appointed Industry Minister and Standing Committee member Lekh Raj Bhatta as the chief coordinator of the Far-Western Province.

Thapa further said action has been recommended against Rawal for withdrawing money from the party’s account.

“The meeting has also recommended action against Bhim Rawal for embezzling Rs 3 million from the party’s account,” Thapa has written on his Facebook.
