Shocked by outrageous scenes at US Congress: Nepal’s ex-PM Deuba

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President and former Prime Minister on Thursday remarked that he was shocked by the outrageous scenes at US Congress.

In a tweet, he said, “The people have spoken – the transition to the next government must be peaceful! We wish all US citizens peaceful days ahead!”

Armed supporters of President Donald Trump barged into the Capitol building, vandalized windows, and clashed with security personnel, resulting in the death of a woman while three others died of “medical emergencies”, BBC reported.

The violence had halted debate over Joe Biden’s election win but Congress later certified his presidential election victory.
