Dahal and Nepal are behind party split: DPM Pokhrel

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokhrel has accused party leaders Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Madhav Nepal of pushing the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on the verge of split.

Party reached the situation of split and division after they maneuvered to remove KP Oli from the post of Prime Minister and party Chairman. DPM Pokhrel, who is also the leader of Nepal Communist Party, said it during a meeting of the active cadres of the party organized by workers’ special district committee.

DPM Pokhrel also argued that the present crisis was created after leader Dahal acted to capture the party. “Dahal has been continuously violating the agreement since the last elections. The party lost a million of votes as he denied using the same election symbol,” he reminded.

He further said his side of NCP was always for unity and warned that anyone weaken the party unity would be given due response.

According to him, the Dahal-Nepal faction was nervous at the positive works of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. He hailed PM Oli’s moves as his stand for nationality and sovereignty during the blockade, trade and transit agreement with China and issuance of Nepal’s map by incorporating the territories encroached by India.

On the occasion, PM’s Chief Political Advisor Bishnu Rimal said Dahal-Nepal group was moving ahead with the strategy of capturing party and State authority, which, he said, resulted in dissolution of House of Representatives. The government faced problems more by the protest from within the party than by the opposition, he reminded.
