Irate Pathao riders vandalize company’s office

KATHMANDU: Disgruntled riders of ride sharing company Pathao have vandalized the company’s office on Monday.

The vandalism occurred at a time when the negotiation between the riders and the company was taking place. The company was trying to resolve the dispute by introducing treatment expenses and accident insurance policies. Police have arrested 26 people in this connection.

Riders have been demonstrating demanding reduction in the commission. Currently,  the company takes back 20 percent in commission out of the fare paid by the passengers while the riders want to bring it down to 8 percent.

Window panes of the office have been damaged in the vandalism, said DSP Daksha Bahadur Basnet.

The riders group resorted to vandalism today after the company said it would not fulfill all the demands laid down in the 11-point memorandum submitted on December 21.
