Deuba appeals to join protest against Parliament dissolution

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has appealed to one and all to join the protest against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.

The party is set to stage protests in 165 constituencies on Monday against the dissolution of the House of Representatives by the President on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

In a press release issued on Saturday, Deuba appealed to all citizens to participate in the protest.

In a statement, Deuba said that his party has unanimously opposed the dissolution of the House of Representatives.

“The Nepali Congress has stood unanimously against the dissolution. In the ongoing meeting of the Central Working Committee, I had proposed to hold a demonstration. After the decision, our entire attention is now focused on the demonstration.

Though Deuba has called the move of the prime minister and the president unconstitutional, he was adamant that the re-establishment of the House of Representatives should not be made a political issue.

He has been urging the members who spoke in favor of the restoration of the House of Representatives in the ongoing meeting of the Central Working Committee not to speak on the issue sub judice at the Supreme Court.
