Thapa pledged his support for Oli after the latter promised him to make his ‘second man’ in his faction. Secretariat member of the ruling NCP Thapa had met with Prime Minister Oli and Prachanda on Wednesday.

According to a source privy to the meeting, Home Minister Thapa expressed his support to Oli during a meeting yesterday.

Former Maoist Badal had not taken part in the meetings of the two factions after the ruling NCP party headed towards the verge of split.

According to sources, the relationship between Badal and Prachanda soured after the latter tried to relieve him of the post of Home Minister.
