KATHMANDU: Lawmakers of the dissolved House of Representatives (HoR) representing the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have filed a writ at Supreme Court (SC) against the government’s decision to dissolve the HoR.
Lawmakers, including Dev Gurung, Krishna Bhakta Pokhrel, Shashi Shrestha, and Ram Kumari Jhankri reached the SC Tuesday with the writ petition.
In the writ, they have alleged President Bidhya Devi Bhandari of dissolving the HoR on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Oli.
They have also said they have been deprived of the right to represent the people for five years.
“We have been deprived of the right to represent the people for five years,” the petition states.
According to them, President Bhandari, Prime Minister Oli, and Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota have been made the defendants in the writ petition.
