Prachanda refuses to budge

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman KP Oli has urged Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda to withdraw his political proposal.

In response, Chairman Prachanda said that the proposal would not be withdrawn and that a conclusion should be reached after discussing it in the meeting of the Standing Committee.

“During the meeting, Prime Minister Oli reiterated his old request that the proposal should be withdrawn,” said Prachanda’s press coordinator Bishnu Sapkota, “Chairman Prachanda responded that the proposal presented in the meeting will not be returned and a conclusion should be reached after discussing it in the Standing Committee meeting.”

A discussion was held between the two Chairpersons on the eve of the Standing Committee meeting.

NCP Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam had also reached Khumaltar during the discussion between the two Chairpersons. Senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal also reached Khumaltar after the Prime Minister left.

Disputes and crises within the ruling party have deepened after Oli issued a controversial ordinance on the Constitutional Council while the top leadership was sharply divided over separate proposals by Chairperson.
