KATHMANDU: Nepal and Bangladesh on Thursday signed a government-to-government (GTG) agreement for the supply of 50,000 metric tons of urea fertilizer.
The agreement was signed in Dhaka by Netra Bahadur Bhandari, Managing Director of Agriculture Inputs Company Limited on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development and Mohammad Amin Ul Ahsan Chairman of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation.
According to Hari Bahadur KC, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Agriculture, the agreement was reached to import the fertilizer at US 259.195 per metric ton.
According to him, the agreement states that loading of fertilizer will start ten days after the opening of the LC by the Agricultural Inputs Company Limited and 50,000 metric tons of manure will be provided by Bangladesh within two months.
The cabinet meeting had given in-principle approval to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development to procure 50,000 metric tons of urea fertilizer from Bangladesh.
