Constitutional Council ordinance direct attack on essence of constitution: Bibeksheel Sajha Party

KATHMANDU: The ordinance on the Constitutional Council issued today is a “direct attack on the essence of the constitution and the government’s move towards totalitarianism”, according to the Bibeksheel Sajha Party.

The party has also demanded immediate withdrawal of the ordinance.

The party has drawn serious attention to the Constitutional Council (Work, Duties, Rights and Procedures) (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2077 BS issued by President Bidya Devi Bhandari on the recommendation of the government.

“The incompetence of the government and the endless internal strife within the ruling party have cost the country and its citizens dearly, and the arbitrary actions of the Prime Minister have put the parliamentary system and democracy at risk,” the statement said.
