Morang Police nab six for reconciling rape case



BIRATNAGAR: Morang Police arrested six people trying to reconcile a rape case that occurred in Belbari, Morang.

According to the police, Dhaneshu Khawas, 65, Sudhar Singh Khawas, 53, of Dhanpalthan-5, Magan Khawas, 62, Kalkanu Khawas, 62, of Rangeli, Jagat Narayan Khawas , 67, and Mathalu Khawas of Belbari have been arrested for their attempt to hide the rape incident by reconciling it.

DSP Man Bahadur Rai, the spokesperson of District Police office, Morang informed that the arrested people had prepared and signed a reconcile paper promising Rs 500 thousand as compensation to the victim.

“Those who covered up the incident and signed reconciliation in the case of rape have been arrested from their homes,” Spokesperson Rai said.

Suresh Kumar Khawas, 32, had raped a 21-year-girl who had been working in his field as wage earner on September 9 and had been absconding from police since the victim filed a complaint against him on October 11.

A team of police deployed from Area Police Office, Rangeli had nabbed rapist Khawas on December 4. On further investigation on the case a reconciliation paper signed by the alleged was recovered.
