Mother, daughter die of asphyxiation, heater kept switched on



KATHMANDU: A mother and daughter have been found dead in Gokarneshwor Municipality-2 of Kathmandu.

Pemba Sherpa, 27, and her one-month-old daughter were found dead on Thursday morning.

Pemba’s husband Dorje Sherpa, 32, was also found unconscious, according to police.

Chief of the Metropolitan Police Circle, Bouddha Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nabin Karki said that Dorje was sent to Nepal Medical College for treatment.

DSP Karki said that the incident may have taken place due to asphyxiation as they slept the whole night turning a heater on.

The locals had informed the police after the Sherpa family did not wake up till morning.

The mother was found dead and the father (Dorje) was found unconscious when the police opened the door. DSP Karki said that there was no ventilator in the room.

The bodies of the deceased have been kept at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj.
