25 leopards captured in camera in forests of Bhanu Municipality



DAMAULI: A total of 25 leopards have been captured in cameras installed at forests of Bhanu Municipality to count the number of leopards and their prey species.

A such number of leopards were captured in the cameras installed at forests of different wards of the municipality at the joint initiative of Division Forest Office, Tanahun, and Kaski.

A total of 65 cameras were installed at community forests of ward no 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 under the leadership of Chief of the District Forest Office, Kaski, Kedar Baral.  The cameras were installed for 15 days from November 7.

Baral shared that study about the footage of the leopards captured in the cameras was underway. “Footage of some leopards has repeated. Activities are on to distinguish it by looking at the pictures of the leopards. We will release the study report within a few days,” he added.

The number of leopards and their prey species was counted covering 4,200 hectares of land of 22 community forests.

A total of 36 points were identified at the community forests for the same. It would be easier to make the arrangement for managing food for the leopards after the census of the leopard.
