KATHMANDU: India has handed over 2000 vials of Remdesivir to Nepal.

Visiting Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla handed over the medical assistance to the Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.

Speaking at the function, Shringla said that India will make the COVID vaccine accessible soon and Nepal would too benefit from it, recalling that India is the major vaccine manufacturer in the world.

Remdesivir medicine is regarded as a broad-spectrum anti-viral medication for treating moderate to severely ill patients on oxygen therapy.

According to medical research, the drug is proven to significantly reduce the duration of hospital stay and also diminish the recovery time of patients.

He added that India looks forward to further strengthen Nepal-India ties.

Indian Foreign Secretary Shringla arrived on a two-day Nepal visit on Thursday.
