KAILALI: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel has warned any educational institution not complying with the compulsory education provision would be deprived of government services.
Speaking at a press meet in Dhangadhi on Monday, Minister Pokhrel said that those educational institutions failing to implement the provision will be barred from all government services, including opening bank accounts.
The Free and Compulsory Education Act has the provision that the local governments made sure that every child aged 5 to 12 years is enrolled and received free education in public schools.
The law bans anyone without basic education up to Grades eight by 2028 from taking up jobs at any government or non-government agencies or from getting a public position.
Minister Pokhrel said of the total 313,000 children who remained out of school last year, 254,000 have already been enrolled.
