Govt must be accountable to people, party: NCP senior leader Nepal

KATHMANDU: Senior leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Madhav Kumar Nepal has said every leader should be ready to accept their mistakes and weaknesses.

“My concern is that we should be able to admit our mistakes and move ahead accordingly,” he told the party’s Secretariat meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday.

He also said that the meetings of the party should not be delayed.

Senior leader Nepal said this after Prime Minister KP Oli sought 10 days for his response to NCP Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s political report and to prepare his own report to be presented at the meeting.

NCP leader Nepal further stated demanded a “serious review” of the government at all three levels – Federal, Provincial and Local Levels — as there has been widespread frustration among the cadres and the people.

“It is high time that all of us reviewed the performance of all three governments,” he said, adding “We should not waste time.”

He further stated that all three levels of the government should be accountable to the party and the people.

“The government should be accountable to the party and respect the people’s sentiments,” a leader quoted senior leader Nepal as saying.
