IPL2020: Delhi defeats Hyderabad by 17 runs to reach final

KATHMANDU: Nepali leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane-involved Delhi Capitals has reached the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) underway in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Held in Abu Dhabi on Sunday night, Delhi defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 17 runs in the second qualifier to reach the final.

Delhi restricted Hyderabad to 172 runs while it was chasing the 190-run target set by the former losing eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Hyderabad’s KS Williamson top-scored with 67 runs including five fours and four sixes off 45 balls. Abdul Samad and MK Pandey made 33 and 21 runs.

To limit Hyderabad to paltry 172 runs, Delhi’s K Rabada and MP Stoinis picked up four and three runs, respectively.

Earlier, electing to bat first after losing the toss, Delhi notched up 189 runs losing three wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Delhi’s S Dhawan hit a half-century with 78 runs. SO Hetmyer and MP Stoinis made 42 and 38 runs.

In reply, Hyderabad’s Sandeep Sharma, JO Holder and Rashid Khan grabbed one wicket each of Delhi.

With this win, Delhi Capitals has entered the final for the first time in the history of IPL.

Delhi, now, will take on the defending champion Mumbai Indians for the IPL title in the final. The final match will be held in Dubai on Tuesday.
