Film industry seeks permission to resume activities abiding by health standards



KATHMANDU: The film entrepreneurs and the film artists have demanded the government to grant permission to resume cinema activities abiding the coronavirus safety standards set by the government.

The film entrepreneurs have demanded the government to treat all sectors fairly and requested it to grant permission to resume the cinemas lying closed since the coronavirus outbreak in March 2020.

Citing that most of the industries and other sectors shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak have resumed their services, Madhu Sudan Pradhan, the Chairman of Federation of Nepal Film Entrepreneurs asked the government to treat all fairly and trust the film entrepreneurs that they would abide by the health safety measures set by WHO and the government here.

“Provided the government grants us the permission to resume the cinemas, we will open abiding the health safety measures,” he told, “ We are equally concerned about the health safety of our staffs and the audience and will do everything possible to prevent the spread of the virus.”

He requested the government to enforce refinancing provision and redeem the film industry from the service tax of the period the cinemas were shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
