KATHMANDU: Four additional people including three septuagenarians have died due to COVID-19 in separate places of the country.

A 73-year-old man has died in the course of treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan on Saturday morning.

Originally from Gaurigunj Jhapa, the septuagenarian breathed his last at 6:45 am today, said Dr Ashish Shrestha, the deputy spokesperson of the hospital.

The elderly had been admitted to the hospital on October 23 after testing positive for COVID-19 on October 22.

The deceased had been suffering from heart ailments for a long time.

Similarly, two COVID-19 infected people have died in home isolation in Nawalparasi East.

According to Keshab Chapagain, the health division chief of Nawalpur, a 68-year-old man of Kawasoti municipality-6, and a 77-year-oild woman of Gaindakot municipality-2, Nawalparasi East died in home isolation on Saturday morning.

Family members are making preparations to perform funeral rites for the deceased in the presence of people’s representatives, security personnel and health officials.

Likewise, a coronavirus-infected man has died in the course of treatment at Nepalgunj Medical College in Banke district on Saturday morning.

According to Naresh Shrestha, the focal person of the district, a 70-year-old man from Ghorahi Sub Metropolitan City-4, Dang had been admitted to the hospital  on October 27.

The elderly had tested positive for coronavirus on the following day.

He was being treated at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital and died in the course of treatment at 5 am today after his health condition deteriorated, said Shrestha.

With this, the number of COVID-19 deaths in the district has reached 48 with 11 from outside the district.
