2,634 diagnosed positive, coronavirus tally reaches 164,718



KATHMANDU: Nepal’s COVID-19 tally has reached 164,718 as of Thursday afternoon after 2,634 persons tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, altogether 9,769 sample tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours.

A total of 3,038 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 124,862 in the country.

Nepal currently has 38,952 active cases.

Likewise, 2,689 people are in quarantine facilities across the country at present.

A total of 304 COVID-19 patients in Nepal are undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 76 have been put on ventilator support.

According to the Ministry, 36 persons are undergoing treatment in ICU in Province 1, 13 in Province 2, 184 in Bagmati Province, 13 in Gandaki Province, 49 in Lumbini Province, four in Karnali Province, and five in Sudurpaschim Province.

A total of 10 in Province 1, two in Province 2, 57 in Bagmati, two in Gandaki Province, and five in Lumbini Province are on the ventilator support.

As many as 17 people succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours taking the COVID-19 death tally in the country to 904, the Ministry confirmed.

Meanwhile, a total of 14 out of 77 districts in Nepal have over 500 active cases.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari in Province 1, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Makwanpur and Kavre in Bagmati Province, Kaski and Nawalparasi East in Gandaki Province, Dang, and Rupandehi in Lumbini Province and Kailali in Sudurpaschim Province have over 500 active cases.

Meanwhile, Mustang has zero active cases.
