15 Nepalis working in Kuwait sans salary for 6 months

DOHA: A total of 15 Nepali youths working at the Kuwait-based La Ridge Grille Catering Company has been working sans salary for more than 6 months now.

According to one of the workers, they had reached Kuwait through Kathmandu based Kaski Overseas Manpower 17 months before.

Dil Bahadur Bishwokarma told Khabarhub that they have not got a salary for the last 6 months and some of them are held like hostage there.

“The company has kept all workers in different camp lest they raise voice collectively,” he said.

Another worker Sunil Tamang informed that the company makes lame excuses when asked for salary.

“The management says there has been no business due to coronavirus outbreak and never pays the salary,” Tamang told Khabarhub, “If we don’t work they assault physically and threaten anything may happen to us.”

He complained that Kuwait based Nepali Embassy also turned deaf ears to their grievances.

The workers came into contact with Khabarhub through Chandra Paija Pun Magar, a social activist.

Anil Bahadur Sunar, Butwal informed that the Manpower Company also played nothing positive despite being informed about the incident.

Anil added that the company has been deferring the action telling the workers that the problem will be resolved in a couple of days.

When Khabarhub tried to get the details from the Embassy, the attempt was unsuccessful as both the embassy and the manpower company were closed due to Dashain.
