KATHMANDU: Ministry of Health and Population has come down heavily on the media saying they have misinterpreted the decisions made by the government.

Speaking at the regular press briefing organized by the Ministry of Health and Population, the spokesperson at the ministry Dr. Jageswor Gautam criticized the media alleging they have disseminated the government decisions distorting and misinterpreting facts.

“We have found that various media outlets have misinterpreted and distorted the news related with the Ministry’s decisions about curbing, controlling and caring against the coronavirus pandemic,” Spokesperson Gautam said, adding “As such news are likely to misinform the public, the Ministry requests one and all to disseminate the news without letting it get any negative sense.”

After spokesperson Gautam shared the government decision that the COVID-19 patients have to arrange for the tests and treatment against coronavirus on their own, the decision has been widely criticized.

Following the government’s announcement that it would only bear the cost of the COVID-19 test and treatmetn of the poor and marginalized, the public hospitals have started coming out with the notice demanding all patients to come with the charge required for the treatment themselves.
