NA warns of spike in COVID-19 cases during winter



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army (NA), which has been managing the bodies of the COVID-19 dead, has concluded that the COVID-19 infection will spread more during winter.

Addressing the concluding ceremony of the three-day ‘Nepal Army Division Commander’s Coordinating Conference’ held at NA headquarters, Kathmandu, Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Purna Chandra Thapa warned of a spike in cases.

“It is predicted that cases will increase in winter,” he said in his address, “Accordingly, all parties should make necessary preparations in coordination with the concerned stakeholders.”

NA Chief Thapa has also said that it is necessary to increase the vigilance by analyzing the complexities in the country due to COVID-19.

“In case of infection, make arrangements for proper treatment and keep in good spirits,” Thapa directed.

During the meeting, the progress of various directorates, departments, and offices on the responsibilities of their respective departments was reviewed.

All the participants in the virtual meeting discussed the current security situation in their respective areas.

According to the NA Directorate of Public Relaxation, a presentation was made on the situation created by COVID-19 and the possible security challenges and strategies to be taken to handle the situation.
