NCP Senior leader Nepal urges govt to provide free-health check up, treatment to COVID-19 patients

KATHMANDU: Ruling Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has urged the government to withdraw its decision of not offering free treatment of coronavirus pandemic.

Issuing a press note today, he has labeled the Communist government’s decision of abstaining from the responsibility providing free health care and treatment against COVID-19 pandemic as objectionable and has asked the government to withdraw the irresponsible decision instantly.

He has reminded that COVID-19 impact on job and other source of livelihood has aggravated the life of poor and marginalized and the government’s decision to withdraw the medical support rather than offering the relief to the COVID-19 ridden people is regrettable, unacceptable and irresponsible.

Citing that our prevalent laws relating to the states responsibility in the pandemic outbreak also demand the government to come out for the help of the pandemic affected people, leader Nepal said he is disheartened by the news and wants instant correction on it.

“Our legal provisions relating to the infectious disease also hail it the government’s duty to take the responsibility of the pandemic patients’ treatment,” leader Nepal has said in the statement.

“Keeping in mind the helplessness the pandemic affected public, poor, unemployed and marginalized community, the government should come out in a more responsible way,” he has said.
