NCP lawmakers to return Dashain allowance



KATHMANDU: On the same day, the main opposition party Nepali Congress made the decision to return the Dashain allowance, ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) lawmakers have also decided not to take the Dashain allowance this year.

The social campaigners and civil society leader had been criticizing the law makers of federal parliament for their avarice to take the Dashain allowance even in such social and economic crisis caused by coronavirus pandemic.

After such criticism, NCP lawmakers had started declaring they would return the allowance individually. In the meantime, NCP has institutionally decided to return the allowance.

The deputy leader of NCP’s parliamentary party, Subas Nembang informed that the party is still to decide whether to return the allowance to the state fund or to transfer it to the COVID-19 fund.

The ruling NCP has got 220 lawmakers in the parliament.
