Elderly woman dies of COVID-19 in home isolation

DHARAN: An elderly woman who was returned home without an admission by BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) for lack of bed died of COVID-19 in home isolation today.

The 83-year-old woman had been staying at her daughter’s home after she tested positive for coronavirus. She was taken to BPKIHS for treatment on Saturday after she experienced respiratory problems.

Chairman of Ward No 18 in Dharan, Naresh Iwaram, informed that the woman was found infected two days back.

Currently, the BPKIHS has stopped admitting infected patients citing the bed shortage.

Although there are 10 beds with ventilators, only six are functioning.

It is learned that the Nepal Army was managing the dead body.
