PM Oli directs Karnali leaders to abide by decision made by Chairmen

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman KP Oli has instructed leaders from Karnali Province to implement the decision to be reached after discussions between him and another Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

Prime Minister Oli gave the directive after he was briefed by the province leadership in Baluwatar on Saturday about issues after a no-confidence motion was filed against Karnali Chief Minister Mahendra Shahi.

“Now, we two Chairmen will discuss and reach a conclusion. The province leadership has to abide by the decision,” said a leader quoting PM Oli as saying.

Though General Secretary Bishnu Poudel participated in the discussion, Chairman Prachanda snubbed the meeting.

Prachanda had separate discussions with Karnali leaders at his residence in Khumaltar on Thursday and Friday in consultation with Oli.

State Committee Secretary Maya Prasad Sharma, who participated in the discussion, said that all the leaders briefed the Prime Minister on the latest issues.

Following Oli’s directive, Chief Minister Shahi, leader Yamlal Kandel, Finance and Planning Minister Prakash Jwala, State Committee Secretary Maya Prasad Sharma, MP Chandra Bahadur Shahi and others are expected to return to Karnali.

Although Oli and Prachanda had summoned them to Kathmandu assuring of a solution, they are about to return without a concrete solution.

Earlier, Chief Minister Shahi and dissident leader Kandel had met Executive Chairman Prachanda and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal separately and briefed them on the latest issue.
