Nine more succumb to COVID-19, Nepal’s death toll reaches 645



KATHMANDU: Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll has reached 645 as of Monday afternoon with nine new fatalities in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, seven men and two women have died of the pandemic. Kathmandu Valley recorded four coronavirus-related deaths.

Three men— aged 39, 89, and 90 years died in Sunsari, two men aged 63 and 67 years in Kathmandu, a 50-year-old man in Lalitpur and a 74-year-old man in Rupandehi succumbed to the coronavirus.

Likewise, a 71-year-old woman in Kathmandu and a 40-year-old woman in Chitwan died of the coronavirus, Health Ministry stated.

Nepal had witnessed record-high 22 deaths from the pandemic on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Nepal has recorded as many as 4,047 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health, with the recent data, the total number of cases reached 111,802 in the country as of Monday afternoon.

Nepal currently has 33,880 active cases, he said.
