Ward Chairman of Bharatpur Metropolis-20 dies of coronavirus



CHITWAN: Manilal Tamang, 69, Ward Chairman of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-20, has died of the coronavirus.

Tamang died at Bharatpur Hospital at 11:30 am on Sunday, COVID-19 Focal Person at the hospital, Dr. Pramod Poudel stated.

He had tested positive for coronavirus on October 2 after undergoing a PCR test on September 30

Tamang was admitted to the hospital on Friday after suffering from high fever, cough, and respiratory problems. Earlier, he was treated at Pushpajali Hospital in Bharatpur for three days and was discharged.

He was rushed to Bharatpur Hospital following health complications. He also had diabetes and high blood pressure.

 After his oxygen level dropped to 40, he was kept in the intensive care unit, Poudel said.

He is the first people’s representative to die from the coronavirus infection in Chitwan. Tamang was elected ward chairman representing Nepali Congres in the local level elections.
