KATHMANDU: The country recorded a total of 5,008 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours in the highest single-day spike.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the recent data, the total number of cases reached 105,684 in the country as of Saturday afternoon.
Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor said that altogether 19,320 sample tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours.
According to Dr. Gautam, 1,229 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 74,252 in the country. Nepal’s recovery rate stands at 70.2 percent, he added.
Nepal currently has 30,818 active cases, he said.
Dr. Gautam stated that a total of 13,654 people are in institutional isolation and 17,164 others are in home isolation facilities.
Likewise, 4,686 people are in quarantine facilities across the country at present.
Similarly, he said that 321 infected ones are receiving treatment in ICU beds and 77 others are on ventilators across the country.
As many as 30 persons are undergoing treatment in ICU in Province 1, 20 in Province 2, 196 in Bagmati Province, six in Gandaki Province, 51 in Lumbini Province, 17 in Karnali Province, and one in Sudurpaschim Province.
Likewise, 11 in Province 1, two in Province 2, 57 in Bagmati, and seven in Lumbini Province are on the ventilator support.
Likewise, 14 people succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours taking the tally of coronavirus caused deaths in the country to 614, the Ministry confirmed.
Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Morang, Banke, Chitwan, Rupandehi, Sunsari, and Surkhet have more than 500 active cases, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, two districts— Manang and Mustang—have no active cases.
