Deadline for Dharahara reconstruction extended by nine months

KATHMANDU: The deadline for the reconstruction of Dharahara Tower has been extended by nine months.

The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) extended the deadline by nine months despite Raman Construction’s demanded an extension by 21 months, arguing that the COVID-19 crisis hindered the construction works.

NRA had signed an agreement with Raman Construction to complete the construction of the tower by October 6, 2020.

Raman Construction’s Project Manager Shyam Chandra Shrestha said that the work was affected due to the lockdown and as the site of the main museum has been just acquired.

The devastating 2015 earthquake had damaged the historic tower.
