Three held with huge cache of narcotic drugs



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested three drug traffickers from different places along the Nepal-India border.

Mahottari Police arrested them with 8 kg opium, 131 kilograms of marijuana and 46 ampoules of corex from separate places, recently.

Acting on a tip-off, a police squad deployed from DPO, Mahottari, arrested Khowari Prasad Raut Kurmi with 8 kg opium stored in his house based in Tindubiya, Kalikamai rural municipality.

Similarly, police arrested Raj Ojhaiya Tharu, 40, with 131 kg marijuana from Paterwasugauli rural municipality, Deuriya tole on Thursday.

Likewise, police arrested a drug trafficker from Alau of Parsa while he was transporting 46 ampoules of corex from India to Nepal. The arrested is identified as Ashok Thapa, 20, of Makwanpur Sub Metropolitan City, said DPO, Mahottari.

The cases of drug trafficking have increased taking advantage of the sealed border, according to police.
