KATHMANDU: Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Chennai Super Kings by 10 runs in a cricket match held under the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday night.
Chennai was restricted to 157 runs with the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs while chasing the 168-run target set by Kolkata in the cricket math held at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.
Despite Chennai’s Shane Watson’s a half-century inning, it could not help the team secure win against Kolkata.
Similarly, Ambati Rayudu made 30 runs including three fours off 27 balls and RA Jadeja hit 21 runs including three fours and one six off eight balls and remained not out.
In reply, Kolkata’s Shivam Mavi, CV Varun, KL Nagarkoti, SP Narine, AD Russell took one wicket each.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, Kolkata had notched up 167 runs with the help of 81-run inning played by Rahul Tripathi. Other batsmen could not score significant runs.
SP Narine, PJ Cummins and contributed 17 runs each off nine balls.
With the win, Kolkata has climbed to the third position in the points table. It has collected six points from five games and Chennai is in the fifth position with four points from six games.
