KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has sought an answer from the government on the issue of Chinese ‘encroachment’ in Humla.
Hearing the writ petition filed by advocate Santosh Bhandari, a single bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma directed to furnish a reply on the issue.
In the writ petition, Advocate Bhandari had demanded to issue a mandamus order to the Government of Nepal to bring back the land ‘encroached’ by China by internationalizing the issue.
However, the apex court has ordered the government to submit the basis and reasons for issuing the order as per the petitioner’s request within 15 days.
The apex court, however, has refused to issue an interim order.
Recently, it was reported that the Chinese side had constructed 11 buildings on Nepali land in, Lapcha area of Humla.
But, the government, after on-site monitoring, claimed that that the Chinese side has not encroached upon Nepali land.
