KATHMANDU: The government has not yet approved the Indian proposal to resume Delhi-Kathmandu flights.
After the Nepal government started conducting flights to limited destinations, the Indian side had sent a proposal to resume Delhi-Kathmandu flights.
The Indian side had asked the Civil Aviation Authority Nepal (CAAN) to operate regular flights under certain criteria.
‘Nepal’s travel agencies have been lobbying for resuming more flights. But, because of the health issues, their lobby alone is not working to grant permission, ”said an official.
Rajan Pokharel, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, said that India has proposed to allow only Indian and Nepali nationals to travel on the flight to Kathmandu.
Ministry officials said the issue was being discussed with the CCMC and other agencies as the infection was still rampant in India and was not open for regular flights.
CAAN DG Pokharel informed that the flights will start once the decision is taken by the government.
