IPL2020: Mumbai beats Hyderabad to climb atop points table



KATHMANDU: Defending champion Mumbai Indians has climbed atop the points table by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 34 runs.

This is Mumbai’s third straight win in the cricket match held in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.

Mumbai restricted Hyderabad to mere 174 runs while chasing its 209-run target in the Sharjah Cricket stadium.

Even though Captain David Warner played a half-century 60-run inning, Hyderabad could not register win. Manish Pandey made 30 runs including four fours and one six off 19 balls while Jonny Bairstow contributed 25 runs off15 balls.

Mumbai’s Trent Boult, James Pattinson and Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets each of Hyderabad.

Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, Mumbai had notched up 208 runs losing five wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Mumbai’s Quinton de Kock top-scored with 67 runs including four fours and four sixes off 39 balls, Ishan Kishan hit 31 runs off 23 balls while Hardik Pandya  made 28 runs including two fours and two sixes  off 19 balls.

Hyderabad’s Sandeep Sharma and S Kaul took two wickets each of Mumbai.

With this win, Mumbai is atop the points tally with six points from five games while Hyderabad is in the sixth position with four points from five games.
