Province 1 sees record-high 255 COVID-19 cases



BIRATNAGAR: As many as 255 people have been found coronavirus positive in Province 1 in the highest single-day spike.

According to the Ministry of Social Development, 122 people in Sunsari, 102 in Morang, six in Jhapa, five in Udayapur, four in Khotang, three each in Sankhuwasabha and Okhaldhunga, one in Dhankuta and nine outside the province tested positive for the coronavirus.

A total of 98 people have been infected in Dharan of Sunsari district. Of those infected, 48 are women and 50 are men.

The reports of three women and six men in Duhabi of Sunsari, one woman and seven men in Itahari, one woman in Ramdhuni, Barahakshetra, and Barju and four men of the undisclosed local level came positive.

A total of 31 women 56 men in Biratnagar of Morang, four women and one man in Sunbarshi, one woman and three men in Gramthan, two men in Katahari, one woman in Urlabari, Ratuwamai and Kanepokhari, one man in Dhanpalathan, one woman and one man each in Damak of Jhapa, Arjundhara, Kamal, Gauradaha and one from the undisclosed local level have been found coronavirus positive.

Likewise, five men from Belka of Udayapur, four men from Khotehang of Khotang, one woman, and two men from Chichila of Sankhuwasabha, three men from Okhaldhunga, one man from Mahalakshmi of Dhankuta, and nine men from outside the province have contracted the coronavirus.

The number of coronavirus cases in Province 1 has reached 7,432.

On Saturday, 287 people have recovered, taking the total recoveries to 3,725.
