DAMAULI: An artificial lake is to be made in the Madi River flowing through Byas municipality-3 and 5 of Tanahun.

The municipality is constructing the lake with a view to promoting tourism. In this connection, the municipality has signed a memorandum of understanding with Eco-Code Nepal and Paragon JV for the preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the construction of artificial lake.

Mayor Baikuntha Neupane handed over the memorandum of understanding to the representative of Eco-Code Nepal and Paragon JV.

Chief Administrative Officer Dilliram Sigdel shared that the municipality is preparing a DPR in the preliminary stage to develop human settlement in the vicinity of the river operate various productive projects and conserve river area.

The municipality has put forward the process for forming an artificial lake along with a master plan for developing various infrastructures in the 18-km area of the river under wards 3, 4,5, 6, 7 and 10.

The municipality is planning to provide boating service in the lake so as to attract inflow of tourists. As part of the project, the structures such as indigenous village, meeting hall, botanical garden, recreational centre, Water Park and mini gulf court would be constructed.
